Is your gut causing your skin problems? One of the most important organs in your body is your GUT. Hippocrates was well ahead of his time when he stated “all disease begins in the gut” and its only now with extensive research that we have learnt this statement to be true. Not only does it absorb nutrients and water it has lots of other functions, such as:
- Acts as a second brain
- Acts as a gate keeper for your inflammatory response
- 80% of your immune system is in your gut
- 90% of serotonin is made in the gut
- Produces vitamins B and K.
The quality and quantity of your GUT microbiome plays an important role in your GUT. As an infant your gut microbiome begins to be established and is affected by genetics and your environment. If your mother has gut issues, low microbiome, or worst candida then you can develop those issues too. It takes up to 7 years of age for your microbiome to be developed, so any aggravating factors to it before that age will greatly affect you for the rest of your life. The introduction of pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics, steroids and anti-inflammatories before 7 is detrimental to gut health for the rest of your life, and then it gets passed from generation to generation. This is why I believe gut health is now a pandemic issue as it gets passed from mother to infant and the increase of leaky gut and food sensitivities are on the rise. As an adult your gut microbiome is affected by your food choices, such as, high sugar, processed foods. Changes in your gut and its microbiome affects mood, emotions, gut function, allergies, anxiety and skin disorders.
However there is lots you can do to help your gut health, so many children are being missed diagnosed from so call medical experts that haven’t realised that the gut issue is causing the skin disorders, I know and I’m passionate about it because I am was one of those children.
The following is a case study of a 2-year-old boy that was diagnosed with eczema, and after seeing specialists was put on steroid creams and told he will grow out of it. NOT true. This boy came to see me and I diagnosed him with candida. Candida is an overgrowth of natural bacteria in the gut and only becomes an issue when the gut bacteria becomes unbalanced. I put him on a candida diet and prescribed him homeopathics and probiotics, 3 months later his skin is transformed.
Have a look at these before and after photos of the 2 year old boy that was kindly given to me by his mother, who is now also passionate about other mothers knowing about this issue with the gut.
